"OACAA exists
to support its members and to strengthen a unified
community action presence in Ohio."
The Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies
represents the interests of Ohio's fifty-two community
action agencies with the State of Ohio including
the General Assembly and various state departments,
as well as with the federal government both in the
region and in Washington.
For OACAA, "to support its members" also
means working to keep Ohio's community action agencies
on the leading edge in the fight against poverty
through quality training programs for everyone from
front-line workers to members of local boards. It
means using the tools the Association develops that
both raise awareness of poverty in Ohio along with
raising awareness of the successful programs Ohio
has used to battle the causes and effects of poverty.
The national identity campaign, the Best Practices
awards, specialized training and education events,
mentoring new leaders and other strategic and learning
activities are also vital tools OACAA is proud to
sponsor and support for its members.
While membership in OACAA is limited to only certified
community action agencies in Ohio, we are pleased
to offer most of the information on the website
to all who view them.
